Everyone’s favorite superfood, dark chocolate, is made from the seed of the cocoa tree, dark chocolate is one of the best sources of antioxidants on the planet. We’d like to emphasize that dark chocolate is very different from sugary milk chocolate candy. Look for dark chocolate that is high in cocoa, at least 70-80% cocoa. Aside from the healthy fats, fiber, iron, magnesium, copper, and manganese in dark chocolate, many health benefits step from its powerful antioxidant combination.Dark chocolate is loaded with polyphenols, flavanols, and catechins which disarm harmful free radicals in the body and may improve blood flow, lower high blood pressure and ward off cardiovascular disease. Interestingly, this increased blood flow may help your skin protect itself from the sun. Consumed in moderation (like in our Dark Chocolate Chia Bars!), dark chocolate may benefit your body inside and out.
